The US student of Indian origin vanished in the Dominican Republic on March 6 while on vacation. Her family have now reportedly asked the authorities to declare her dead.

Despite an extensive search involving hundreds of people, Sudiksha's body has not been found. The US has stated it is a missing person case, and not a criminal matter.

The family of Sudiksha Konanki now fears she drowned near the RIU Republica Resort in the Dominican Republic.

Joshua Riibe was the last person to see her on March 6 at 4:50am in the surf on the beachfront of the hotel.
