A couple of photos from a protest ride today by a group of Native Americans who are traveling across the country to call attention to the existence of Native Americans where they feel erased and to demand that all tribes get federal recognition. Spearheaded by a Chumash (Santa Barbara) leader and a leader of the Muekma Ohlone people also from California.
When they told me they would ride through Times Square, I asked, do you have a permit? And the answer I got was.. ..we are the original inhabitants of this land and we don’t need a permit. This is part of the #landback movement.
So great as always to see Kylie Noheartinwar and both Jessie James White and Yukonna Henry- both very talented riders who I had not seen since Pawhuska, OK in 2021
They are traveling from reservation to reservation with their horses and doing rides in ceremony at each location on their way to DC
