Today acknowledges #WorldElderAbuseAwarenessDay & we are encouraging citizens to be aware of the signs of elder abuse.

Elder abuse can take many forms including financial exploitation, psychological, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, abandonment & other forms of mistreatment.

The CPS has an Elder Abuse Response Team (EART) dedicated to investigating the abuse & neglect of older adults. The EART works with other community partners such as Unison for Generations 50+ & Carya Calgary to ensure the safety & well-being of Calgary seniors, as well as help to educate families & caregivers to recognize the warning signs of elder abuse.
