A troubling situation is unfolding in Zamfara State, where Miss Zainab Muhamadu, a Christian convert, is facing trial in a Sharia Court simply for embracing the Christian faith. Her journey to Christianity began after meeting Samuel, an NYSC member and pastor, who treated her with dignity and shared the Gospel without coercion. Unfortunately, upon the discovery of her conversion, Zainab encountered intense backlash.
Her trial is scheduled to begin this Friday, raising serious concerns about her safety and the fairness of the process. Given that Zamfara is a predominantly Muslim state and many officials are adherents of Islam, there are fears that Zainab’s fundamental rights may not be fully upheld.
In this critical moment, we are calling on the body of Christ to urgently pray for divine intervention on Zainab’s behalf. We also ask for prayers and support for Samuel, who is navigating this situation with uncertainty and needs wisdom on how to proceed.
Efforts are underway to challenge the jurisdiction of the Sharia Court, arguing that Zainab, as a Christian, should not be subject to its authority. However, this will require strong advocacy and support from legal experts, human rights organizations, and faith-based institutions.
We urge churches and believers everywhere to lift Zainab and Samuel in prayer, and to rally support—spiritually, legally, and emotionally—as they face this daunting trial.
President Tinubu, we urgently call on you to intervene in this matter.
This situation raises serious concerns about religious freedom and justice. It also highlights why many fear the expansion of Sharia law into regions like Yorubaland—where there is growing anxiety that such moves could lead to enforced religious conformity or an attempt to Islamize the entire nation.
