We, the people living in Arunachal Pradesh should not be treated merely as the price of national security. Our homes, rights, livelihoods and cultural heritage are part of what national security is supposed to protect.

A genuinely sustainable decision must consider both India’s strategic interests and the people whose lives would be changed by the project.
The key is to distinguish the need to protect India from upstream water risks from the assumption that building a massive dam is the only way to do so.
