County authority apprehended the woman who sneaked ammunition in Alol of Tonj South county.
An operation carried out by Tonj South County security forces resulted in the arrest of people who were identified as conflict instigators, arms sneakers and the confiscation of a major cache of ammunition mixed with sorghum.
The arrests and seizure occurred on a Wau-Tonj in Alol . Although details are still emerging, the attack underscores the persisting problems of containing trafficking in illegal weapons in the region and attempts by local authorities to address the root causes of intercommunal violence.
The operation underscores the conflict-arms proliferation nexus which has plagued the greater Tonj region, usually perpetuated by retaliatory attacks and cattle raids.
The action is a milestone towards the efforts of re-establishing stability and peace in the region and prosecuting those responsible for perpetuating the violence. The suspects are already in custody, and investigations are underway.
Tonj South County Commissioner Hon. Col. John Ayitiak Warwien appreciates the security forces and condemn the practices of such crimes.
Hon. Commissioner, further outlined the tireless efforts made by H.E Amb. Bol Wek Agoth governor of Warrap State in bringing total peace in Warrap State generally but anti peace spoilers are working tirelessly to ruin and drake people back to communal activities.
He added that let embrace peace and denounce violence so that the government may do other developmental plans.
